Request Account
1. Click the "login" button on the home page.    [top]


2. Click the "create account" button in the window that pops up.    [top]


3. Enter your information in the boxes. Then click the "create account" button again.    [top]


4. Go to your email, and click on the link that was sent to you. If you don't see an email from Dokkai Assistant, check your SPAM folder.    [top]


5. The link should take you back to the home page where you can now login.    [top]


Logging In
1. Click the "login" button on the home page.    [top]


2. Enter your username and password. Then click the "login" button.    [top]


3. The home page should now show you a list of your files. If you don't have any yet, annotate a text and save it.    [top]







Annotate Text
1. Choose a text to annotate.    [top]

2. Copy and paste the text into the "create new page" box on the Dokkai Assistant home page. Click the "annotate" button.    [top]


3. Now when you mouse over the words, computer-generated annotations should pop up.    [top]


4. Some of these annotations may be incorrect or incomplete. To modify them, click the green "edit" tab.    [top]


5. To change an existing annotation, click on the word. You should be able to modify the pop up that appears. Click "save changes" when you are done.    [top]


6. To add a new annotation, click on the "mark new word" button.    [top]


7. Then use your mouse to highlight the word you would like to annotate. Click the "ok" button when you are done.    [top]


8. Now you should be able to type your annotation in the pop up that appears. Click "save changes" when you are done.    [top]



Add Image
1. Click on the blue "media" tab.    [top]


2. Choose an image from the internet. Or upload your own image to the internet. You will need the URL or web address.    [top]


3. Click the "add new image" button.    [top]


4. Copy and paste the URL of the image into the box. Click the "preview" button.    [top]


5. The image should appear now. Re-size it with your mouse if you like. Click the "ok" button.    [top]


6. Click the place in the text where you want the image to appear.    [top]



Add Audio Recording
1. Click on the blue "media" tab.    [top]


2. Click the "record new audio" button.    [top]


3. Click the red circle button to begin recording.    [top]


4. Click the "Allow" button so that Adobe Flash can connect to your microphone.    [top]


5. Click the black square button when you are finished.    [top]


6. Your recording will play back automatically. You can re-record if you don't like it.    [top]


7. When you are satisfied with your recording, click the green checkmark button to save it.    [top]


8. A pop up should tell you where your recording was saved to. Click the "ok" button.    [top]


9. Click the place in the text where you want the audio icon to appear.    [top]



Add Link
1. Click on the blue "media" tab.    [top]


2. Choose another webpage to link to. You will need the URL or web address.    [top]


3. Click the "add new link" button.    [top]


4. Copy and paste the URL of the other webpage into the box. Click the "ok" button.    [top]


5. Click the place in the text where you want the link icon to appear.    [top]



Define Vocabulary List
1. Click the orange "vocabulary" tab.    [top]


2. Click on a word to add to the vocabulary list.    [top]


3. The annotation and first example sentence (if there are any) will show up in the list on the right. You can edit any of these boxes.    [top]
